Kristina Koromzay (Core-um-z-eye)

Kristina started playing the piano at age 5. Later, she became interested in classical music and studied in two prestigious music schools for teens in Europe; Purcell’s in London and Bela Bartok Conservatory in Budapest. She went on to study at the CU music school for two years, but left to pursue a project in community development, and she played keyboards in several bands during this time in her twenties. She has participated in many music projects, most recently co-directing two French rock operas at CU. Kristina is a well- rounded musician, having studied and played many different types of music including Indian ragas and accompanying various theater, dance and movement performances, and writing original music. She has been teaching students of all ages for twenty years and her approach is to find out what music the student likes, how they learn, and then covering all the bases from different approaches (aural, visual, kinesthetic). Kristina’s intention is to keep the musical experience fun and magical, while also providing the technical bases necessary to develop each student’s musical seed potential into a flower both hardy and beautiful. The kernel of each person’s uniqueness; how they learn, what they enjoy, what their own goals might be, will be kept at the fore front of every musical encounter.
Phil has been actively playing piano and keyboards for 15 years. He is a graduate of the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. Phil has performed in a handful of different groups, playing all over Colorado and the New York metropolitan area. Some of these include, Morsoul, The Low Tide Lingo, and CU's West African Highlife Ensemble, backing such artists as Victor Wooten, Benny Galloway, Brad Goode and John Gunther. In addition to teaching, he is currently performing in Colorado and the Midwest with Jet Edison. Phil has a moderate teaching style that centers around the students interests whether it be a particular song, style or genre of music. During his years studying with many professionals in the field, Phil has discovered that the best method of teaching is to the students needs by focusing on voids in his or her skills so they can be as versatile and well-rounded as possible.
