Harmony Music House Presents:
The Harmony West African Drumming Class

Class Info:
Come learn to drum!! Attend a fun 6-week series focusing on the djembe and dunun drums from Guinea and Mali, West Africa. Learn how to construct a polyrhythm, how the drums talk to one another and how to make great music together with other people. Group drumming is a metaphor for community so expect to make strong connections with your fellow drummers as we learn to make music.
Tober Schorr has been studying the drumming of Guinea and Mali for the past 12 years. He has been apprenticing with Master Drummers Abdoul Doumbia and Fara Tolno for the past 7 years and has been performing in Fara Tolno's West African company Kissidugu for the past 6 years. In 2008, Tober spent 5 months in West Africa immersed in the culture and he also served in the Peace Corps in Mozambique from 2001-2003 where he was part of a Mozambican traditional drumming and dance group, "Kwezi".
No experience is necessary, just a willingness to try something new. So come drum with us!!
It's not necessary to own a drum for this class, but if you own, or can borrow a djembe or dunun please bring it.
