"The key component is to always make the presentation fun and engaging."

Tober Schorr has been playing drumset for 16 years and West African drums for 11. He studied music at Colorado College, which lead him to become a founding member of a traditional drumming and dance troupe in Chokwe, Mozambique. Upon his return to the US, Tober began studying with master drummers Abdoul Doumbia from Mali and Fara Tolno from Guinea. He has been a member of Fara Tolno's performance troupe Kissidugu since 2005. Tober has also studied privately with Christian Teele, the house drummer for the E-Town radio program.

Tober has performed in a wide variety of musical situations, from bars, festivals, down on Pearl St., to the inauguration party for Governor Ritter. He also accompanies dance classes at CU and has collaborated with a graduate student in the dance department there, composing original music for a collaborative dance piece.

Tober likes to use a variety of teaching styles, recognizing that each person comprehends music in their own way. Some people respond to notation and analysis of the music and others like to simply hear a part in context. The key component is to always make the presentation fun and engaging.
